 Mice are Not Baby Rats

Rodents include mice, rats, squirrels and chipmunks to name a few. We have people that will come into our store and think that the mouse they caught is a baby rat and we then explain the difference between a mouse and a rat. The most common rodent in homes seems to be the house mouse. Rodents are a big pest control problem and can be done by the homeowner if they are properly armed and educated.

Rodents, this group is one that most home owners will find out about sooner or later. Most homes and businesses will have a small mouse problem that can be easy to solve simply by using sticky traps or snap traps. While this might be the norm, we will have a few homes that can have 30 up to hundreds of mice in the attics, crawl spaces, garages and other areas of the home. When we come across this kind of mouse infestation we will begin our inspection on the outside of the building looking for harborage areas like fire wood, piles of trash, low growing bushes, and other similar type areas. We will then make recommendations as to cleaning up and getting rid of the harborage areas. If you will control the outside of the house by keeping the grass cut short, sealing up small holes in the home and then remove the hiding places for mice, this will greatly enhance your success rate for controlling house mice.

Now for the inside of your home,  you will need to use glue boards, multi-catch mouse traps, and glue boards for getting the inside under control. Remember you have stopped most of the mice from coming into the house, now you have only to worry about the ones inside the attic, and other areas of your home.  When you place any trap out for control, please note that mice will normally travel along walls and other vertical items, as this makes them feel safer. Knowing this makes getting them under control a little bit easier. Also mice are generally very curious about new items placed anywhere in their areas and will investigate, thus they will sometimes trap themselves. We have used numerous baits in our traps, like professional baits, peanut butter, and even small pieces of string which they will use in making their nests.  Our favorite baits happen to be small pieces of tootsie rolls and bedding material. So if you live in Jacksonville Florida or Miami Florida you need to know how to control mice in and around your home.

The glue formulas in Catchmaster glue traps are effective for at least one (1) year in a home scenario, and for five (5) years unopened in a warehouse locale, giving you more value for your hard earned money. Catchmaster glue boards do not have oil in them like the competitions products use. Oil mixes with the body chemistry of the rodent and allows the rodent to escape. Oil also makes glue more susceptible to running or dripping in hot temperatures.
